Lyft and Waymo Joined each other to Work on Self-Driving Cars

Lyft and Waymo had recently a contract to join each other to work on Self-Driving cars. News confirmed by the new deal first reported by the New York Times on Sunday. Deal has now been confirmed by both the parties accepting each other to be a team and to spread their services. Both the companies refused to show their goal of their partnership.

But Google’s Waymo, which is a self-driving car project running in some cities, has nearly a decade of working experience separately as one entity. Waymo and Lyft teaming up, made serious issues for Uber to stay on the ground. Uber had a benefit of its services which stands them out.

There are some issues between Uber and Google’s Waymo. Waymo was the one who sued Uber claiming that Uber’s autonomous car program stole Waymo’s program of self-driving technology from Waymo and used it to develop parts of Uber’s self-driving systems. But Uber denied the accusations. Waymo and Lyft partnership is now the genuine signal for Uber that these two companies are going to overrule the Uber.

Lyft is working on its owned Self-Driving project which is in-house project. Both companies has the similarity in a way that both company’s Self-Driving cars are going to serve the person who wants them.

Self-driving Car must have licensed driver sitting in it. In theory, Lyft could help Waymo connect to a large user base of customers already using the ride-hailing service so Waymo doesn’t have to build its own network from scratch.

Uber has undoubtedly provided best services they could provide to benefit the organization but again now it has to face these two big organizations. Uber is trying to make more agreements with car companies like Mercedes Benz Parent Daimler.

This is the latest move that indicates Waymo is now so closer to commercialize its new technology that people thought so. The Alphabet-owned company is going to be the best player in the space with the most experience, with nearly a decade of development work and actual driving experience with autonomous car tech.
